Can you guess what’s missing? Children use all of their five senses to learn about the world around them. In this fun and hands-on activity, your child will practice using the sense of sight to gather information about the world. We will have fun guessing what objects are missing as we practice the skill of visual discrimination. Let’s have fun figuring out the missing objects together!

Sample Activities and Instructions

Show the child the objects. Allow him/her to play with them for a few minutes. Discuss what they are and their attributes.
Place all of the objects in front of the child. Leave at least one inch of space between each object.
Cover the objects with the blanket.
While the objects are covered, reach underneath the blanket and remove one item without letting the child see which item it was.
Take the blanket off of the objects and ask the child which object is missing.
Repeat several times.
