Children love to explore the world around them using their five senses! This activity let’s them use their sense of hearing to listen for the different sounds that are familiar in their world. Your child will practice auditory discrimination skills while playing a fun guessing game. Let’s listen for the different sounds!

Materials

-sound clips of a variety of sounds (such as: dog barking, phone ringing, tap dancing, wind blowing, rain, thunder, food crunching, toilet flushing, camera clicking, etc.)
-picture cards that represent each sound

Sample Activities and Instructions

Show the child the picture cards. Ask him/her to identify each picture and explain what is happening.
Tell him/her that you will be playing a game in which he/she will have to listen to a sound and find the picture that matches.
Play the sounds one at a time and ask the child to find the corresponding picture card.
