Let's do this!

Favorite and conveniently book Kid Experts for sessions throughout the site.

Appropriate for babies 4 months to 1 year, this activity helps babies to understand that, just because they can’t see something, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. This is a concept experts refer to as “object permanence”. Your baby will be mesmerized by the movement of objects and mystery of the hidden toy, and enjoy the surprise when finding the toy!

Sample Activities and Instructions

We will take one of baby’s small toys and put it under a container (bowl, box, etc.).
Put a larger container over that container, and so on, until the toy is under at least five layers.
The final set up is put in front of baby. Your Kid Expert will ask, "Where's your toy?" and take off the first layer of container. They will repeat this with the next layer, asking, "Is your toy in here?"
We keep going until the last layer is off exclaiming, "Here’s your toy!" and allowing baby to grab the toy.
This can be repeated with different toys and objects; it can also be done box-within-a-box style, or using different sizes of cloths/towels/blankets.
