Similar to online maps, in this activity we will drop a pin and follow directions to locate it. First we have to design our own “pin.” By using a clothes pin and some craft materials, we can transform it to look like anything we want – a monster, a flag, a rhinestone crown, anything! Then, your Kid Expert will close their eyes while the child hides the pin anywhere in the home. Once hidden, the child gives three hints to find it. The hints can be written in the form of a riddle, step by step directions or a simple description of the location. Once the Kid Expert finds the pin, we will reverse roles and keep playing!

Materials

Sample Activities and Instructions

First we have to make our pin. Using the materials we have, we will glue them onto the pin to make it our own.
Now the child can hide the pin anywhere they want. The Kid Expert will close their eyes so they can’t see where it goes.
Once the pin is hidden, it is time to write out some instructions. For example: 1. It is round. 2. It has two arms. 3. You find it on the wall.
Using your description, your Kid Expert will search for the hidden pin. Once he or she finds it, then we will switch roles and the child will hide the pin.
