A toddler’s world revolves around learning to care for their selves. These activities intrigue and motivate them. The baby washing activity reinforces self-care skills and allows them to take care of something else as well, be that their favorite baby or dino! Through this activity, the child will learn to set up their workspace, use a small soap dropper, and clean up any spills.


• Baby or Dino (appropriate for water)
• Large bowl/tub
• Small soap dropper
• Child-size wash cloth
• Towel for baby
• Baby clothes/hat/diaper (optional)
• Apron
• Towel for spills


As parents, it's important to make sure that activities are age appropriate and that allergies or medical conditions are communicated as you see fit.

Sample Activities and Instructions

Set up baby tub and all necessary items and invite child.
Child puts on apron.
Demonstrate how to wash the baby. Exaggerating key components, such as, using one drop of soap, scrubbing with cloth, keeping water inside tub, etc.
Allow child to take over, assisting when necessary.
Once child is finished washing baby, demonstrate how to dry and/or dress baby.
